Dancing on Ice: Kimberly and Mark perform on Musicals week

Dancing on Ice can become a fierce competition as we get into the latter stages – but Kimberly Wyatt is still close with her competitors.

The Pussycat Dolls singer, who is skating with pro partner Mark Hanretty, is one of the favorites to clinch victory after impressing with her sensational routines each week.

It’s tight at the top as a number of celeb skaters believe they are in with a shot at lifting the trophy during the final in a few weeks.

But that hasn’t stopped them becoming close friends away from the ice – and Kimberly has revealed who she spends a lot of time with.

Despite claims of rifts and being frozen out behind-the-scenes, Kimberly has denied the speculation and spoken about the “good vibes backstage”.

“It’s such a scary experience. I feel like we have such a brilliant cast and the saving grace is knowing that however you feel, somebody else must be feeling pretty much the exact same way,” she told The Mirror last month.

So who has she become good friends with out this year’s crop?

Kimberly has explained that she found a “connection” with Happy Mondays star Bez and adores Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor.

“Bez always shoots me a sweet little smile, I have a little connection with him,” said Kimberly.

“And Sally is just brilliant, I adore her, she’s a lovely ball of energy backstage.”

Both are now out of the competition and Kimberly is going head-to-head with another trained dancer, former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole.

They may be rivals for the top skater crown, but Kimberly has said she enjoys Brendan’s performances and is pushed to be better.

She added: “Brendan’s such a fierce competitor, but I love watching him on the ice. He, if anything, helps me raise my game.

Kimberly has also called Regan Gascoigne, another trained dancer who is a direct competitor, a “sweetheart” and said she loves the way his body moves.

While admitting she is competitive, Kimberly explained that she loves watching everyone put on a good show for the viewers at home.

Kimberly said: “I can’t deny that I am a very competitive person but it’s not necessarily to the detriment of my competitors. There’s nothing more I love than watching everybody go and smash it. It really makes me excited.”

The singer has been getting support from a lot of different places, but the one that confused fans was her connection to Ryan Thomas.

The former Coronation Street actor baffled people when he posted an Instagram story saying he was “supporting my girls”.

Ryan uploaded a sweet snap of him and his mum sat in the crowd and tagged both Kimberly and Sally in the post.

Kimberly’s husband is British model Max Rogers who has worked with some huge luxury brands including Diesel, Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger, and is an old friend of Ryan’s.

Kimberly has been right up at the top of the leaderboard every single week and is one of the favorites to win the competition.

But the singer has admitted she does struggle with her nerves backstage as she prepares to skate live on the show.

She explained: “You really have to go into a little bit of warrior mode and talk yourself into it.

“It’s nerve-racking. I’ve never had to regulate my breathing in such a way as the deep breaths into the ribs. You have to keep calm. Find your Zen.

“So trying not to take that on as well as battle with your own feelings as well as wanting to just do your absolute best – it’s a lot to deal with.”
