KalGold set to continue Kalgoorlie drilling campaign

Junior gold explorer Kalgoorlie Gold Mining, or KalGold has locked in a diamond rig and RC rig to continue the drilling onslaught following in the wake of a 3,519 meter program at the company’s flagship Bulong Taurus gold project near Kalgoorlie in WA.

Whilst drill assays are pending, a series of shallow auger results have returned confirming extensive gold anomaly south and southeast from the La Mascotte prospect, part of the Bulong Taurus project, for up to 1.5 kilometers.

Diamond drill planning is underground with up to eight drill holes set to be sunk into the ground in either late March or early April at La Mascotte with the aim to define gold mineralization controls at Bulong Taurus. The program is expected to inform subsequent drill programs in addition to contributing significantly to an initial JORC resource estimate

An RC rig will then be rolled in for May to follow-up anomalous results from the recently completed 35 RC hole program in addition to testing new targets.

Although Bulong Taurus continues to be the primary focus for KalGold, its other WA projects will also be receiving attention over coming months. The next contender set to feel the hard edge of the drill bit will be Ninga Mia – an extension of the famed golden mile and Kalgoorlie super pit.

Pending government approval of a program of works, the initial RC drill program set to commence at Ninga Mia in May will chase around 30 targets which have already identified. The majority of the generated targets at Ninga Mia have not been tested previously by historical drilling.

Dataset acquisition and targeting are also underway for generative projects across KalGold’s other WA gold targets. The Pianto gold-in-granite tenement has been granted with planning now underway for an initial aircore drill program at the site located approximately 40km southeast of Menzies.

Also under the microscope is KalGold’s Perrinvale gold project sitting about 80km west of Leonora. A high-resolution magnetics dataset has been received with gold targeting and drill planning now underway. An aircore program is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2022.

High-resolution magnetic datasets are also expected back shortly that will assist the company in its targeting along the Keith Kilkenny and Laverton Tectonic Zone projects.

Kalgoorlie Gold Mining’s Managing Director, Dr Matthew Painter said: “As we wait impatiently for gold assay results from recent RC drilling at our Bulong Taurus project, KalGold is moving forward with planning for forthcoming drill programs to ensure the Company continues to progress its highly prospective project portfolio.”

“Targeting at our Ninga Mia project at Kalgoorlie-Boulder has identified a swathe of never-before-tested targets with direct structural links to the Mt Charlotte gold mine and the Golden Mile. These are being prioritized for drill testing in May.”

“KalGold will have ongoing news flow as we accelerate our efforts to discover and define gold resources near the gold capital of Australia, Kalgoorlie-Boulder.”

Having only listed on the ASX in November 2021, KalGold has launched straight into a drilling bombardment at its flagship Bulong Taurus gold project. After hitting gold in its first pass drill program late last year the drill rig hasn’t stopped spinning, amassing a serious quantity of assays at the lab. With those results expected back shortly, the stage is set for an exciting couple of months for this busy explorer.
