Emily Andre brushes off 16-year age gap with Peter: ‘He’s young at heart’

Emily Andrea opened up about why he will make his 14 year old daughter Princess wait before she joins the world of entertainment.

Writing in her weekly OKAY! column, the NHS doctor says she doesn’t notice the age gap because Pete doesn’t look his age – or act it either. Here, she also shares her thoughts on children having mobile phones, and how she feels about young siblings locking lips after Sam Faiers shared a snap of her kids kissing. As Young-At-Heart Pete turns 49, Age Is Only A Number

We had such a nice time celebrating Pete’s birthday. An amazing chef came to the house and cooked us the most incredible food.

We were so lucky to have seven courses prepared by Nisha Parmar, who was a semifinalist on MasterChef in 2018.

All the kids joined us for dinner but Millie and Theo didn’t have all seven courses as it was a little much for them. Millie did try quite a few bits, though. She’s quite adventurous with her food from her!

I never go over the top with presents but I did get Pete some bits and bobs.

He will be 50 next year and it feels like he’s had this big build-up to it, as he’s been talking about turning 50 for the past five years!

Emily Andrea says the 16-year age gap with her husband Peter Andre doesn’t bother her and he’s “young at heart”

To me, it means nothing how old someone is. Age is only a number and Pete doesn’t look 50. He’s also very young at heart.

He’s lucky he has such good genes as he’s spent a lot of his life in the sun, which is very aging!

I always say to him, “Imagine if you hadn’t sunbathed like you had, you’d probably look like a teenager now!”

He also used to wear oil in the sun and only began using sun cream when he met me. But better late than never, I think!

Jokes aside, neither of us are worried about him turning 50, and are trying to plan something really memorable to do as a family.

The NHS doctor says the Russian invasion of Ukraine, led by President Vladimir Putin, is “absolutely heartbreaking”

Meanwhile, the situation Russian leader Vladimir Putin has created by invading Ukraine is absolutely heartbreaking.

I’ve spoken to a few mums whose kids have been worried about what is going on, understandably.

My kids haven’t mentioned anything yet. I’m sure it’s going to come up but I haven’t planned out what I’m going to say.

I’d never bring it up as I think kids have enough to worry about and I try to protect them. But if they do ask, I will speak about it in a reassuring and calm way.

hold the line

Singer Pink has admitted that she’s not ready to let her 10-year-old daughter, Willow, have a phone yet.

For me, with the kids, it depends on the situation and how they’re
getting to and from school.

As Millie (eight) gets older, if she was getting herself to school or waiting for a bus, then I would think having a mobile phone was reasonable.

But now it doesn’t seem necessary because she is either with an adult at school or with me and Pete.

I didn’t get a mobile phone until I was 16! These days, I think it will be quite hard to hold off until then.

Millie will jokingly ask for a phone now and again. She put an iPhone 13 on her Christmas list but she knew she was n’t going to get one.

She has an iPad so she can FaceTime some friends or family members but to me it’s not necessary for her to have a phone right now.

I think there is so much scope for bullying and online abuse with a phone. The longer I can hold off, the better.

The Age Of Innocence

Sam Faiers shared a picture of son Paul and daughter Rosie kissing on the lips and some followers commented that they didn’t agree with it.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with this. Young siblings don’t look at kissing on the lips in an adult way so I don’t think you should take the innocence out of things.

Everyone has the right to parent how they want. Everyone also has their own opinion – but I think people are very quick to judge online.

Some parents let their children have fizzy drinks and I choose not to at the moment, but I wouldn’t comment on an article or Instagram post saying, “You’re wrong!” It’s not for me to decide what someone else should allow their kids to do.

Assuming your approach to parenting is the only way to do it just isn’t realistic.

As long as children are safe, when it comes to parenting it’s totally up to you.
