Social Media Made Spunky

Many people we encounter complain that social media doesn’t work… TRUTH IS.. it doesn’t work for most people and here’s why…

YOU NEED A PLAN! Most networker marketers or social networkers don’t have a social media strategy plan written down anywhere… Do you?

You need to be very clear about where social media fits into your business model and that will inform decisions you make about:

1. Which platforms you need to get involved in.

2. Your aim/ what you want to achieve from your strategy

3. How much time you allocate to social media

1. Which Parties To Be Spunky At!

In keeping with our overall strategy of a manageable, enjoyable and sustainable online business, we recommend: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and an active content-rich blog. Sure, there are many other platforms to use, however we like to focus on the biggest, most powerful platforms. Of course, for a greater presence online and for driving more traffic to your website, we encourage you to use bookmarking services as well. When using the right strategy and systems, you can easily bookmark your content online and share it with the world, instantly!

There are other places you can ‘be’, but as you overload on ‘parties’ to be Spunke at, you dilute the results and start to look tired! A solid appearance at the main events is better than dashing around everywhere without focus… How can you provide real value and develop real connections without focus and dedication? You can’t!

The biggest mistake people make with social media is trying to do everything at once. You might feel as though you need to be everywhere everyday… but you DON’T! Consistent action on the main platforms will get you there.

2. What Do You Want From Partying?

Mistake No. 2 is not knowing what the aim is. Are you looking to make money (for those is business this is probably a yes) and if so, how do you intend to achieve that. Social media is not for blatant pitching; that’s just like picking up at a party with a slimy one liner!

What is the journey you intend to take your new Friends, Followers, and Fans on, to eventually have them buy from you? This requires thought and consideration. What value will you provide first to build that loyalty from your new friends, prospects and customers? What connections are you hoping to make?

3. How Much Time At Each Party?

Here’s the trick: strike a BALANCE between the tasks to complete, to achieve the greatest results, and an appropriate and manageable time commitment. It’s like anything in life, you can obsess about it, yet not achieve any more than the next person who does just enough to create optimal results… So how do you find that point of balance? Especially when there are ‘guru’ courses (we’ve done them all!) on each social media platform that would each have you spending hours per day implementing their strategies on just one platform. How would you ever manage five?

The time commitment also needs to be taken into account, along with the other tasks you have to carry out in your life and your business (in that order!). If social media is not generating leads or serving your long-term branding strategy, then you can’t afford to spend much time on it. If on the other hand you are following the Spunke Business Masterplan, social media will be a strong strategy for generating AND converting leads. The more something works and pays off, the more you need to do it!

Facebook comments are spunky!
