In the current world of online business, building a personal brand requires a strong social media presence. Whether it’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or YouTube, the interactions you have and the content you share on social media platforms will impact on the growth and awareness of your brand.
However, your mere social media ‘presence’ won’t cut it. Neither will the shallow conversations you have with your peers, customers, followers or partners. Conversations are just an exchange of spoken words, ideas, feelings…
Conversations on social media are simply an exchange between people, with no consideration to the content or value of that conversation, for all involved parties (the people talking, and the people watching too!).
Conversations don’t do anything for your brand. The real value of connecting and engaging people in your social media networks is in:
- Collaboration (working WITH people)
- Contribution (providing VALUE)
- Insight (sharing your VISION)
- Empathy (being HUMAN)
- Genuine connection (building RELATIONSHIPS)
- Personality (revealing your UNIQUE values, talents, spirit, purpose)
- Inspiration (promoting action through LEADERSHIP)
This is what real social media engagement is made of!
There is no magic in mere ‘conversations’… but when it comes to marketing your personal brand using social media marketing and networking, you can create plenty of magic when you collaborate, contribute, share your insight, show empathy, attract and harness genuine connections, show your personality and inspire others.
By doing so, you will not only create relationships and reinforce your leadership, you will also attract more people to engage! Remember, others are watching you… they see how you engage ‘your people’. If they see what genuine value you provide, and your amazing ability to truly connect, care and share, they’ll want to engage you as well!
How do you instill your value in your conversations?
