Many small business websites don’t make sales… not because the products or services are not worthy, but because the sales process is unclear or complicated. When your visitors reach your sales pages or online store, the easier it is for them to complete a purchase, the easier it is for you to make a sale!
So here are 3 tips to make sales easy on your website and maximise your online marketing strategy:
1. Limit distractions. Most business websites offer a lot of content, with many menus, banners, widgets and sidebars to help their visitors navigate their website and find what they are looking for. These menus usually lead visitors to blog posts, information pages, free subscriptions, videos, etc. On your sales pages or your online store however, these options are best left out! When you remove distractions and links, your customers can focus on your products or services, and focus on buying them!
2. Tell your customer what to do! The easiest way for customers to understand how to make a purchase on your website is to follow simple instructions. So to make it easy for them, tell them exactly what they need to do! Using action buttons or visible text links always helps (e.g. Buy Now, Click Here, etc.), as well as using calls to action that communicate urgency and scarcity (e.g. Buy Now, Buy Today, Limited Time Only, Bonus, etc.). Essentially, show your customers exactly how, why and when to buy on your website.
3. Keep the payment process simple. Many sales are lost because of complicated or long-winded payment processes. With an easy to use shopping cart and checkout system, you can avoid any confusion from your customer as to what they should do to make a purchase. With just a few clicks and clear instructions, you can make sales easy on your website!
